Working with Project Life

I've been thinking about starting a Project Life album for a while now. I've been using Project Life cards in my mini albums so why not go one step further. I get to shop for supplies, and more supplies....and begin!
Maybe in 2014 I'll start creating weekly pages. For now I'm just playing.
Here's a few of the pages I finished.

August Creative Dare

The theme for the August Creative Dare is Let it Go. The rules were to use a favorite quote and create a piece in 1.5 hours or less.
A family member is going through drug rehab so I wanted to use a quote that represented what I've been feeling lately...Hope. I know he will have ups and downs but I am hopeful he will be clean in the future. I'm reading 'A Beautiful Boy' by David Sheff and it's helping me understand addiction and the recovery process in a way that makes sense.
I used collage paper from Tangie Baxter, Deco Art paint and Tattered Angel sprays for this piece.

July Creative Dare for Mixed Media Monday

The dare this month was to be inspired by one of Tracy's Mixed Media Monday creations and create a work of our own. I love Tracy's "Flowers of Grace" piece and I actually painted along with her during the show but gessoed over it and started over.
My flowers are a digital design from Trangie Baxter that were printed and cut out. They were enhanced with a white gell pen and Gelatos.

Tracy's fabulous work:

Tsunami Rose Designs - Week 26 Challenge

The challenge this week is color inspiration. I printed and colored one of the digi stamps with water color crayons. The background paper is from the Life Abloom Kit. The page was embellished with ribbon and washi tape.

June Creative Dare

For this months creative dare Tracy listed 4 powerful truths and dared us to create using at least one of them. I chose "You are amazing just the way you are."

Tsunami Rose Challenge

I love working with printable journal papers designed by Daisy Collins. The paper I use for printing is 110lb weight that was purchased at Office Depot. The colors look so vibrant.

I finished binding and decorating the cover of my latest mini book and it is gorgeous!
For the tic tac toe part of the challenge I used black floral ribbon on the spine, a cameo button and flowers for texture.

Tsunami Rose Challenge Week #22

I love the new Polished Lackluster printable journal papers created by Daisy Collins, but I wanted to use the papers in different way. The challenge theme is Friendship so I wanted to create a scrapbook layout.
I ended up doing a collage of several of the papers. Golden Matte Medium was used to glue down the papers. Then a wash of Donna Salazar Mix'd Media Inx in Peaches was applied. Gelatos were used for shading.

My May Creative Dare for Mixed Media Mondays with Tracy Weinzapfel Studios

Our dare this month was to write a letter to ourselves. I chose to give my 14 year old some advice.
I love working with red and black and I wanted something graffiti'ish that a 14 year old could relate to.

Tsunami Rose Designs Challenge Wednesday

The challenge this week is create an altered journal. I recently purchased the New Beginnings printable journal from Tsunami Rose Designs so of course I had to work with this bautiful paper.
My jounal cover is 5 3/8 by 7 1/4 and the paper is 4 3/4 by 6 3/4. I made the journal using chipboard and it's covered with kraft cardstock.

Let's get started! The first step was to stickle gesso around the outside of the journal. I used a paint brush and tapped all around. I'm not worried about the inside area since it will be covered with paper.

After drying the gesso with a heat gun, I was ready to spray!

I started with Tattered Angels Merlot Gold. I'm skipping the middle since it will be covered with paper.
I added Tattered Angels Sun Sisters...

Then some Tattered Angels Kiwi...

And the last layer is Smooch Spritz Mixed Berries. I let it create beautiful drips!

The final project! There is cheesecloth peeking out. The large flowers are from Prima and the beautiful smaller flowers are from Lavish Laces. The flat back pearls on the lace are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.
I just love how it looks!

March Creative Dare

Tracy Weinzapfel's March Creative Dare is to create a piece using buttons and lyrics from your favorite song. One of my favorite songs is 'Fix You' by Cold Play.
It was fun creating the heart. It was cut out of packing material and sprayed, painted and inked. Then I added buttons and twine to make it look like a corset. This is my first non-scrapbooking mixed media piece.  I look forward to the April dare!

Retreat Time!

I'm having a great time this weekend! I am one of twenty four ladies scrapbooking and sharing stories at Magnolia Ridge in Mount Horeb, WI. It's always good to get away and get inspired.

A layout of my son, Sterling, and our friend Maddie.

My Granddaughter, Bella, and our friend, Chelsea.
I used Helmar Scrap Dots to give dimension to the butterflies.

Grateful I Can Try New Product

Happy Mail! My Helmar glue was delivered today so I was able to play! It was delivered too late for the sketch challenge, but that's okay, there's always another one.
I created pockets for the tags so they can be pulled out. The background is burlap. All of the tags are from 7gypsies.
I love how the Helmar Scrap Dots make the butterfly 'spread it's wings, and fly'. I also used the Scrap Dots on the heart to give it a lift. What a fun project!

Tags pulled out.

Sketch Challenge Woes

I was all set to work on the sketch challenge on the Helmar blog but I couldn't find Helmar craft glue locally! Now I have to wait for my order from YourMemoriesHere.com. They had what I wanted and the shipping cost was low! Now all I have to do is wait....Oh well, on to another challenge!

Dream

Tonight I felt like creating a page of my Granddaughter Bella. I used stencils, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and bling.
